“Come with, come with”, called my true lovers voice,
I searched but no lover to be found,
Just evergreens icicles, snow covered ground,
The branches shook, t’was a small speckled bird.
“Where to, where to”, I asked, he flew,
Full-circle and rhymes did sweetly pipe,
“Where my beak is yellow and my feathers shine purple,
Where rye sways rustling and apples drop ripe,
Where I build my nest with herbs and petals,
Your sweetheart wishes, you’d come to settle.”
When snow drops bow and willows wave,
My shivers go, gales needn’t brave,
The starling I’ll follow to moon or sea,
With my beloved I’ll finally be.

I’m a handweaver to me trade,
I fell in love with a factory maid,
And if I could but her favour win,
I’d stand beside her and weave by steam.
Me feyther to me scornful said,
How could you fancy a factory maid,
When there a young girls fine and gay,
Dressed like unto the Queen of May.
As for your fine girls, I don’t care,
There’s none like me dear that do compare,
I’d stand in the factory all the day,
And she and I’d keep our shuttles in play.
The loom goes click and the loom goes clack,
The shuttle flies forwards and then flies back,
Patterns emerge a town parade,
A maypole, garlands, sweet marmalade.
The yarn is made into cloth at last,
The ends are weft they’re made quite fast,
Do you see them, do you also find.
Two weavers beaming with arms entwined.
Where are the girls, I’ll tell you plain,
The girls have gone to weave by steam,
If you’re to find ‘em you must rise at dawn,
And trudge to the mill in the early morn,
Where the looms go click and the looms go clack,
The shuttles fly forward and then fly back,
Patterns emerge, figures within,
A promenade yet to begin.

Üks helevalge tuvi lendas üle Inglismaa.
Inglismaa oli lukku pandud, luku võti katki murtud.
Mitu seppa peavad seda parandama?
Seda ütled sina, vana tatinina!
ENG:
A bright white dove flew over England,
England was locked, and the key was broken up.
How many smiths will it take to repair it?
You tell us, you snot face!
